Things to Do
  • Liujia's One-of-a-Kind Photo Spots
Anthurium cultivation is Liujia District's signature agricultural specialty, ranking first in output in both Tainan and all of Taiwan. Liujia is also home to the ecologically precious Jingpubi Wetland, a designated Wetland of National Importance where farm fields, roads, irrigation channels, ponds, old buildings, and temples interweave into a captivating rural landscape. In recent years, aerial photography over Dream Lake on the upper watershed of Wushantou Reservoir revealed an islet strikingly shaped like the island of Taiwan, turning this hidden lake into a photography sensation. Nearby along Provincial Highway 1, the Jingpubi Bald Cypress Forest is a seasonal autumn attraction, drawing visitors to marvel at rust-red needles and the shifting palettes of nature!
  • Fireflies in Summer and Plum Blossoms in Winter in Nanxi
Nanxi District is hailed as the "Home of a Hundred Fruits," renowned for sweet carambolas (starfruit), green plums, and jujubes. April welcomes blooming white tung blossoms and sparkling fireflies across the hills. The iconic Meiling Scenic Area is southern Taiwan's largest plum-growing region, famed for an array of mouthwatering plum-infused specialties. Nanxi also boasts noted attractions such as Tsengwen Reservoir Scenic Area, Lutaoyang Jiang Family Historic Village, Gueidan Hot Spring, Yongxing Suspension Bridge, and Hsuan Kong Fa Temple. As one of Tainan's two major hot springs, Gueidan's silky "beauty spring" is the ideal way to soothe body and soul after sightseeing and dining, bringing your trip to a rejuvenating close.
  • Reservoir Escapes and Firefly Watching in Nanhua
Featuring mountainous topography, Nanhua District is home to Nanhua Reservoir and Jingmian Reservoir, which supply regional water. Agriculture is highly developed, with mangoes, longans, bananas, and guavas serving as core cash crops. In recent years, local tourism has expanded around the Wushan mountain range, including Nanhua Reservoir, Journey of Origin Leisure Park, the scenic Yuding Trail overlooking the reservoir, the Wushan Hiking Trail, and the Nanhua Wushan Macaque Nature Reserve, alongside unique local temples. Guanshan Village, Tainan's remotest community, offers prime routes for viewing reservoir panoramas and is a secluded haven for firefly viewing.
  • Visiting Yujing: The Hometown of Mangoes
Dominated by rolling hills and nourished by plentiful rainfall, Yujing is an ideal fruit-farming region, celebrated for sweet Irwin and Jinhuang mangoes that earned it the title "Hometown of Mangoes."
