Things to Do
  • Savoring the Coastal Scenery of the Golden Coast
Located at the southern end of Tainan City, the South District retains its small-town simplicity, with the Golden Coast and native mangroves along its shore. Seaside communities such as Kunshen, Xishu, and Wanli have unique histories and cultures, with lanes and long-standing eateries full of stories. Popular spots such as Blueprint Cultural & Creative Park, Shueijiaoshe Cultural Park, and Wanli Recreation Park are great places for adults and kids alike to unwind.
  • Embarking on an Arts and Cultural Journey in Rende
Rende District is served by national freeways and expressways and lies close to Tainan Airport and THSR Tainan Station. Beyond its convenient transportation, it is home to four tourism factories transformed from traditional industries—Home Tech Hydrogel Tourism Factory, TJ Cosmetics Factory, Chimei Happiness Factory, and The Furniture Manufacturing Eco Museum in Tainan—giving it the highest concentration of tourism factories in Tainan. The district also features the Chimei Museum with its exotic, European-style flair, Ten Drum Culture Village where you can enjoy performances by the Ten Drum Art Percussion Group, and Bao-an Train Station, a Japanese-era wooden station famous for its popular "Yong Bao An Kang" tickets—offering experiences for visitors of all ages.
  • Savoring Flavors and Good Fortune in Guanmiao
Situated in southern Tainan, Guanmiao District's distinctive terrain and soils nurture the renowned "Three Treasures of Guanmiao": pineapples, bamboo shoots, and Guanmiao noodles. Guanmiao pineapples have a balanced sweet-and-tart flavor and thick, juicy flesh; they are highly regarded and have found success in export markets. Bamboo groves cover the area's distinctive terrain, producing many varieties of bamboo shoots, and the prized green bamboo shoot is a delicacy often served at banquets. Strolling through the lanes, you may come across rows of noodles drying in the sun, giving off a simple, wheaty aroma. Handmade using traditional methods, these chewy noodles hold their texture even after long cooking—the best souvenir to bring home from Guanmiao!
  • Exploring Longqi Light Festival: Void Mountain on the Nanguan Line
Longqi sits at the southeastern corner of Tainan. One account holds that its name combines the first characters of its two largest settlements, Longchuan and Qiding. The Longqi Light Festival: Void Mountain, which has gained wide acclaim in recent years, is held at Huxingshan Park in Qiding. Longqi's sandy soils give local bamboo shoots and pineapples a distinctive flavor. Bamboo groves blanket the hills, changing color with the seasons and earning the district the title "Home of Bountiful Bamboo." In areas such as Longchuan, Niupu, and Shicao, widespread mudstone eroded over many years has formed a one-of-a-kind landscape well worth a visit for geology lovers.
