OverratedEasy access from the Tainan train station (get off at bao an station, from there it’s 10 minutes walk). The building itself is of western architecture design, but the collections inside was a little disappointing to me. It has a limited fine arts and sculptures, the only exhibit that caught my attention was the musical room,, you need to buy a separate ticket to enjoy the piece in a certain time slot.
Easy access via trainTravelled with kids on train to Tainan station there are bus that take you from station to the Museum, it is quite easy. The art exhibition was very good, specially the videos explains the color, dimension and the material the reasons artist uses them. The violin collection was impressive. With children in the Museum, 1- 1 1/2 hours is max, as there are more for Adults or teenagers then for little ones, but the outside garden area where the little ones can enjoy run around etc. The entrance fee is a good price consider there are few good Art exhibitions. The downside was we planed to visit the down town, there are no public transport, only Taxis.
I love itLove the architectural design. Love the exhibits. I love everything of Chimei. U shouldn't miss it. Its my favorite part of my trip in Taiwan. If ur not interested in Chinese artifacts then u can skip national palace museum and go to chimei museum instead.
Good place to visit in TainanThe entrance fee is 200 NTD and a reasonable price for the museum. If you drive a car there is a big parking lot and 60 NTD for the whole day. Don't forget to go to the gift shop. You will end up buy really beautiful souvenirs. Also, it is a good spot for taking photos.
