The former Julius Mannich & Co(原德商東興洋行) building was built in 1870. It faces Anping Historic Waterfront Park; the impression many Tainan people have of the building is its red brick arches and coral stone base. Along with Tait & Co. Merchant House next to the Tree House, it is one of two surviving foreign merchant house buildings in Tainan. When music performances are staged in the afternoon on weekends and holidays, many tourists enjoy German cuisine and drink beer in the beer garden that is now here and then watch the beautiful sunset over Anping Historic Waterfront Park. When Anping Memories is played, the bronze statue of Mrs. Jin at the side seems to come to life, waiting for her husband to return. It’s as if you have gone back in time over 100 years to when the streets of Anping were filled with merchants. The Former Julius Mannich & Co is being renovated and is not open to the public at this time.
