Former Tainan Park Management Office(原台南公園管理所)

Tainan’s surprises are always hidden in unexpected corners. With red roof, round windows and coral stone walls that appear yellow under the setting sun, Former Tainan Park Management Office resembles a forest cabin from a fairy story and is really cute. The building was completed in 1917 and was built at the same time as Tainan Park with funds raised by the colonial government from local gentry. Small in size, it now houses Tainan Park Police Corps, but retains its external appearance. To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Tainan Park in 2017, the city government invited famed Japanese master gardener Kitayama Yasuo (名庭園大師北山安夫先生) to be landscaping consultant to help restore the park’s waterfall feature located next to the Office and thus reproduce the park’s former splendor.

    A walk in the park

    Traveler rating:4 2019-02

We visited Tainan Park at sunset and were amazed by how nice the Chinese style house in the middle of the pond looked - it is perfect for picture taking or a picnic. Lots of locals also exercise or meet here - there are also sculptures and a few walking trails

    Beautiful park

    Traveler rating:4 2018-11

Located not far from Tainan station, this is a beautiful park with many trees. When you are tired of walking, it is a nice place to take a rest. There are few people: quiet and relaxing. The pavilion on the lake, although a modern construction, is also beautiful.

I loved this park - something for everyone

    Traveler rating:5 2018-10

I am still not caught up on how Tainan plans things but there seems to be a little bit of something for everyone. There are areas for kids to play, plenty of walking paths, along with quiet out of the way places to relax. I loved exploring this park so much that I did go twice. As a photographer it was nice to look at things with a different eye. I recommend this for a good walk and a free attraction. I really wish I would have thought to come at night to see what it offered then.
