Introduce

Tainan’s surprises are always hidden in unexpected corners. With red roof, round windows and coral stone walls that appear yellow under the setting sun, Former Tainan Park Management Office resembles a forest cabin from a fairy story and is really cute. The building was completed in 1917 and was built at the same time as Tainan Park with funds raised by the colonial government from local gentry. Small in size, it now houses Tainan Park Police Corps, but retains its external appearance. To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Tainan Park in 2017, the city government invited famed Japanese master gardener Kitayama Yasuo (名庭園大師北山安夫先生) to be landscaping consultant to help restore the park’s waterfall feature located next to the Office and thus reproduce the park’s former splendor.

    PARK WITH A TRADITIONAL CONCEPT

    Traveler rating:4 2019-09

Tainan Park is a public space with a traditional concept. Equipped with several pavilions, footpaths, curved bridges and lily ponds scattered in the park area. The pavilion and the bridge that runs along the river is an icon of Tainan Park. The park, which is also called Zhongshan Park, is filled with big old trees, so it feels like walking in the middle of a forest. In the morning or evening many local residents, foreign workers and tourists spending time there. Some visitors also use the park as a social gathering. The location is close to Tainan Station but it will be a long walk to get to Tainan Park. It's better to rent a bicycle and ride to the park to enjoy your free time in Tainan.

Nice park not much to see

    Traveler rating:3 2019-09

We visited the park for a bit of a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. It was a nice place for a rest and a picnic, but not as much to see as others parks in the city.

    A walk in the park

    Traveler rating:4 2019-02

We visited Tainan Park at sunset and were amazed by how nice the Chinese style house in the middle of the pond looked - it is perfect for picture taking or a picnic. Lots of locals also exercise or meet here - there are also sculptures and a few walking trails
