Taoist temple
Yes, we also followed the Lonely Planet advice and visited the temple. It's quite ambient, the abacus is interesting - as claimed it was used to calculate whether you have done more good than bad in life. -

Top LP Taoist Temple Pick ...
Like several of the key sites, this temple is undergoing a bit of a face lift. One of the key features is the giant abacus just as you walk into the doorway. In the back, there's a huge furnace where they burn the paper worshipers bring as offerings. Also a little bit of green area to sit and (as always it seems) spacious bathrooms. I'm not sure why this temple is a "Must see" in the LP world, but we were not disappointed that we made the effort to go. -

Oldest Chenghuan Miao
In almost every city, there is a temple called Chenghuan Miao. But this one in Tainan is the oldest one in Taiwan with 300 years of history. -

A lovely temple.
This is a lovely little temple in central Tainan. The temple is located on a busy street, with an odd square in front of it. Inside, the temple is full of flowers, candles and gilded figures.
